GET INVOLVED: GO                                       [go directly to: specific needs]

Could you really go to Southern California - or anywhere - as part of a church planting team? You might think that you have to have some kind of special abilities or ministry expertise. Of course, you must be a growing Christian who loves Jesus Christ. But beyond that, there really is only one qualification: are you willing to move into the city and love your neighborhood for Him? Behind the reputation of every big city are real people in real homes in real neighborhoods. They are hungry for love, hope and peace. They probably don’t know it, but the answer to all of their hungers is in the gospel of Jesus Christ. A church planting team member is a growing Christian who will move into a neighborhood and show them Christ’s love. You could do that! What a tremendous investment of your life: church planting in the city with a team!

If you do have special abilities or passions, the city offers unlimited opportunities to utilize these. Do you know another language? Do you have a special desire to work with children; teens; college students; senior citizens; abused women and children; recovering drug addicts or alcoholics; or homeless people? Do you enjoy teaching music, art, reading, personal finance, sports, or a language? All of these provide wonderful opportunities for evangelism in the city. Do you have experience in business, finance, law, or construction? You could be a great help to a young church. Whatever your gifts and interests, Southern California gives you endless opportunities to use them in reaching people for Christ and building the church.

For example, one mother in Chicago learned that the neighborhood children came home from school with nothing to do for hours until their parents came home from work. She started a "Homework Club" in her home, where children could come for 2 hours each day after school. Parents were thrilled to have the assistance (and free babysitting). The kids were also attracted by many things their families didn’t have: a computer, encyclopedia, dictionary, construction paper, etc. Of course, the activities always seemed to end up focusing on the person and work of Jesus!

Specific needs:
Come be a part of the team! There is a special need for people with a special desire for work with children, teenagers, the elderly, military families, and Spanish speakers.  Of course, Southern California needs more church planters! If you would like more information about these things, please contact us.
